For over a decade, the State of California has prepared a route for a European-style bullet train network. In 2008, you are supposed to vote to approve a $10 billion bond to build the first leg of the system -- a 220-mph train that will travel from LA to San Francisco in less than three hours. But too many of our politicians, often the same ones who sell themselves as environmentalists and transportation advocates, take millions from big oil. Now they are doing their bidding and quietly trying to kill the project before you can vote on it.
